Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. His family's first name is he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his career. He was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the team. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named his as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
