He is currently an Combate Americas promotee. 2 Ortiz is most famous for his work with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) which was where, as a former Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th 2001 until September 26 in 2003, he became the Light Heavyweight Champion. He was one of the early champions of the sport alongside fighters such as Randy Couture or Chuck Liddell. Ortiz became the biggest pay per view winner in 2006 due to his fights against Forrest Griffin, Ken Shamrock, and Liddell.
